All Entries / Sandy, a Frequent Florida Tourist, Now Chooses to Take the Bus Rather Than Rent a Car Because of the Convenience

My son and I have been travelling back and forth to Florida on a regular basis since he was two years old. He is now seven years old. When we are visiting the sunny state of Florida instead of renting a car and going through all the hassles, we take the bus everywhere. We typically use the 12 to go to the beach and the 1 to go to the shopping malls and the airport.

We have even taken the buses to the end the lines! It is such an easy and clean way to travel. The best part is that it is hassle free and economically very affordable. It gives me a chance to sit wtih my son and have conversatons about anything and everything. It is a time when he can have the one to one attention that every child so desparately needs. One of my favorite trips was going and coming back from the Hollywood Beach. On the way to the beach I left my cell phone on the bus. I was hysterical. I called the number at the bus stop and they informed me that the bus driver would be coming back to the same stop and to wait to see if my phone was on the bus. I did and it was. Whew, I was lucky.

As a newcomer, and not very adept to the pick pockets on the beach, my money was stolen. I had no money to get back to our residence. However, since the bus driver has strict rules about letting someone on the bus without paying, a nice person who was taking the bus paid for our fare (my son was free at the time). While we were traveling back to our residence the bus driver pulls over and gets out of the bus. She informed us that she would be right back. She went to the dollar store for some goodies to eat and returned to the bus. I tried to get my son to sit in the drivers seat to take a picture. He would not do it. We were all so stunned. I still laugh to this day at our experience. We love to take the bus because we never know what adventure lies ahead. It is so much more intereting than driving.
