A little over a year ago I started a new job in Miami, Florida, living in Deerfield Beach, Florida almost 43 miles away I had some choices to make. So I started putting together a list of pros and cons, started looking for a closer place to live and also started looking for my transportation options.
After a lot of looking for a new place to live, from Miami downtown to Miami north and south, I realized that I wanted to continuo living in Deerfield Beach a more family oriented environment. Researching on my transportation options I found that home was 5 minutes away from Trirail and work a couple of steps away from Metro mover. So I started my new adventure taking the early Trirail train from Deerfield Beach to Metrorail Station, taking Metrorail train to Government Station, transferring from Metrorail to Metro mover and after a few stops arriving just in front of the building where I work. It sounds kind of complicated but it’s actually really simple, fast and convenient.
In a month, most of the commuters on all three train where friends and we have good conversations on our way to work or back home.
Starting in February of this current year a new public transportation bus line was added “95 Express”, “WOW” this was a great idea, most of those friends that ride with me every day on the train decided to experience this new service, and it has really been good for us. Now I can take a later train from Deerfield Beach to Fort Lauderdale Broward Boulevard, this means I can sleep an extra hour each morning get on the express bus and get to work at the same hour I did before. Coming back home is the same I take the bus from downtown to Ft. Lauderdale Broward Blvd. and then take the train to Deerfield Beach and actually get home an extra 20 minutes before I use to.
So the bottom line is this, we do have very good public transportation in Florida, from route and express buses to trains and express trains. Lets save money, gas and our environment. Do you think I will prefer to stressfully drive every day 42 miles to work instead of comfortably ride, no way…has this been a good experience more? Yes it really has, more people can benefit and will enjoy is tried.
