Top “Tell Your Story” Entries All Entries / Michael Uses Public Transit For His Commute, Saving 100's of Miles In Driving Every Week Taking Tri-Rail every day from Pompano Beach and having the ability to transfer utilizing Miami-Dade Transit to the Okeechobee station saves me from putting over 100 miles on my car five days a week and several hundred dollars in gas. My employer is signed up under the Corporate Discount Plan enabling many of my colleagues to receive a 25% Discount on our monthly ticket purchase. My employer also is signed up with WageWorks, enabling commuters to put aside a monthly amount for transit with pre-paid dollars. The Tri-Rail trains run every 20 minutes during peak rush hours in the morning and evening, making it convenient to catch several trains. I have a lot of confidence in the SFRTA. They have listened to commuter feedback and are making immediate changes and anticipating future transportation issues in South Florida. Did you know that it takes almost five years for an individual to secure a parking spot along most of the NJ Transit Lines? Individuals who want or need to utilize public transportation In NJ are forced to take early morning trains just to secure alternative parking near each of the stations (if they are lucky). SFRTA is already building additional parking sites near many of it's stations, thus avoiding what I will call the New Jersey dilemma in the very near future.
