Top “Tell Your Story” Entries All Entries / Boy Recounts Exciting Adventures Taken With His Mother on Public Transit
Our first adventure was a big one. My mom and I packed up our backpacks and plotted out our route to the Miami Sea Aquarium. We got off our bikes at the Miami Airport Station and headed east. It was a crazy day. My mom's tire hit a hole at one point and fell. I could not stop and road into her. No worries she was fine, with only minimum blood being lost. When we almost arrived at the aquarium we looked up while on Brickell and learned that the Metro Rail goes right where we need to go, without riding about ten (10) miles each way. We still laugh about that today, but that was our first introduction to the Metro Rail. From there everything exploded in regard to our knowledge of how all of the public transportation is all interconnected and how awesome the system is all throughout South Florida. We turned to the Internet for our information and the websites that are available. We now use the Tri-Rail, Metro Rail and bus system to get us to an endless amount of excursions.
The funniest story I have to share has to do with my mom, of course. I invited a friend of mine, Michael, to take from one end to the other Tri-Rail ride. When we finally got to the station, sure enough the southbound train was right on-time. We were jumping up and down waiting for our tickets to be processed. The train pulled up and we stood by the open doors yelling at my mom to, "hurry up" at the top of our lungs. She did an all out sprint like a crazy and just made it through the doors. We also laugh about that one to this day. In conclusion, I want to thank all of the people responsible for running the transportation system. They have befriended my mom and me over the years and taught me so much.
