All Entries / Senior Couple Enjoys a Great Day Out Because of Public Transit
Yesterday, my wife and I decided on the spur of the moment to take a trip to Miami for the day. We arrived at Mangonia Station before 10 AM, purchased our R/T fares using your automated ticket machines and boarded the Tri-Rail train. Total cost for both of us, $13.80 senior fare. Before noon we arrived at the Metrorail Transfer Center, were greeted by a very friendly and informative agent who issued us an Easy Ticket for local transportation. Relaxing ride, no traffic hassles, no tolls, no parking searches or fees, no fuel expense.
We boarded the Metrorail train and soon found ourselves at the Government Center Station where we transferred to the Metromover. At every step, when we had questions, we were assisted by extremely helpful transit personnel. The Metromover took us to Bayside where we spent a delightful 3 hours, shopping and having lunch. We then boarded a transit bus to get to South Beach, all on the same ticket. Six stops later we were at Lincoln Road, ready for another wonderful shopping and strolling experience and a walk on the beach. Once we had completed the Lincoln Road visit, we re-boarded the city transit bus for a return to the nearest Metromover station.
Once again, your agents were ready to assist us with directions to the correct line for return to the Metrorail and eventually to the Tri-Rail station. After a relaxing ride in air-conditioned comfort we were back in West Palm before 9:00 PM. very happy and appreciative for a terrific one-day adventure and we wanted to let you know. I repeat, no traffic, no parking fees, no tolls, no fuel expense. A Great Green Day!
