Hello, my name is Jonathan Siordia and this is my "tell your story" contest submission. I hope you guys down at Miami-Dade Transit like the video I created.
Florida public transportation is by far my favorite way to travel. Aside from all the perks that come from riding the train, saving gas, avoiding traffic, and the environmentally safe issues, the Metro-Rail serves as portal to the diversity that is Florida, especially in Miami. Although I mostly come across business suits and briefcases, it is that much more interesting to come across different people. I have a car, but even with the windows down and the radio full power, it isn't as nearly as fun as the Metro-Rail.
This email is not only to tell my story but to help narrate my video.
I am student at the University of Art & Design in Downtown, Miami. I never really have a camera and I dont always take photos either. I usually just have my sketch book and my music.
So from my house I take the a bus the 252 Coral Reef Max to the train. The 30 minute train ride from Dadeland South to Government Center is about 30 min. I usually take the opportunity to practice my drawing. Every now and then I catch someone sleeping. I try and sit close to them to draw them. and if i can finish before they wake up I will try and leave the drawing for them. I always hope they keep the drawings and show them to people, I on the other hand like to keep anonymous.
These are my favorite times on the Metro-Rail. I hope you guys enjoy my video. It is a 3D reenactment of the first time I ever drew someone sleeping.
